I know how to coax out a student’s best self in writing. I can spot a typo across a country mile. I can see a misspelled word over someone’s shoulder. I’m a great copyeditor with a keen eye for details. These skills help me coach each student to prepare a clear, concise, memorable essay or personal statement for admission into college, graduate school, medical school or law school. Together we’ll be a strong team in reaching the goal of getting admitted or getting a scholarship. I am The Write Approach Coach.

I’m a mom and a cat lover. My mom was a writer. My sister, daughter and I are all writers. I was born in Iowa and lived in Minnesota and Michigan. I was a Girl Scout leader and took my scouts camping, taught them to cook over a fire and let them use pocketknives. I know a million songs and sometimes just burst out with one.

For many years, I dressed in costumes and acted out silly poems to help elementary kids learn to love poetry. I bake spectacular cookies. I’m honest and dependable. My volunteer work always focused on children. I had a beautiful, long marriage to my high school sweetheart. He died suddenly and too young. I managed his office and now I can devote myself to my business. I love helping people wrestle with their ideas to create clear and precise writing that gets them where they want to go!

Is that all I do?

No, of course not! I also mentor students through their capstone projects and master’s theses. I do all kinds of writing, editing, proofreading, research and, occasionally, ghostwriting. I can also spiff up your Christmas newsletter, tighten up your complaint letter or brainstorm about your other writing needs.
